  Yesterday, NASA released “Blue Marble 2012,” a composite image in 8000 x 8000 pixels taken from the VIIRS (Visible/Infrared Imager Radiometer Suite) aboard the recently launched Suomi NPP (an earth-observing satellite that circles the planet 14 times/day at an altitude of 512 miles).
